A quick glance at some Irish & European data just published by Comreg, Ireland's Communications Regulator, in its latest report:

 

140% - the level of mobile penetration in Italy & Greece (EU high), compared with 88% in France (EU low), and EU average of 108%

74% - number of pre-paid mobile users as percentage of total Irish mobile users

Breakdown by operator(post-paid/pre-paid) Vodafone(26/74), O2(32/68), Meteor(12/88), 3 Ireland(35/65), Tesco Mobile(0/100)

28% - data revenue as percentage of total mobile revenue in Austria (EU high), compared with 12% in Greece (EU low), and EU average of 19%

7.58 billion - the number of text messages sent by Irish users in 2007

Averaged at approx 5 messages per subscriber per day for last quarter 2007

€44 - ARPU in Ireland, the highest in the EU, compared with EU average of €27, and €18 in Germany (EU lowest)

44% - growth in mobile broadband usage in Ireland in the last quarter of 2007
