Future of the Mobile Web Whitepaper- We're very happy to publish this paper arising from the The Future of the Mobile Web event held at the Dublin Convention Centre in January 2012. We covered a lot of ground and the paper is a serious attempt to capture all the topics covered from HTML5 to responsive design to device detection and many others. We found it to be a very worthwhile process to listen, validate our ideas and learn from others in the process of writing it. We hope it is useful to a wider readership also.

Future of the Mobile Web: Request for submissions- Dear mobiForge community, We have invited a number of colleagues and opinion formers from across several different verticals to a forum event in Dublin on January 26th next to discuss some of the most pressing issues, trends, opportunities and challenges in today’s mobile web environment. People from companies like Adobe, Cloud Four, Nokia, Yiibu and others will be coming along. The idea is to build towards a consensus on current technology, facts, fictions and opportunities of the mobile web in an environment that is increasingly noisy and hype filled.

The dot conf 2010- Last week (22nd July 2010) I was lucky enough to attend the first ever dot conf in the NCI in Dublin, Ireland. What is the dot conf? The dot conf is a new web technology conference for anyone who works, rests or plays with the internet. It’s a one day event and it's free. Essentially it's a teddy bears picnic but with internet folk instead of bears.

Mobile Web 2.0 "Dramatic Developments" from AT&T Really not all that dramatic....- Well, I'm sad to report that the folks over/up/down at AT&T wireless appear to not quite have their act together when it comes to what is the 'next big thing' in wireless. I had really been hoping/anticipating that the webinar they hosted on June 30 entitled "Dramatic Developments in Mobile Web Technology" was going to provide something concrete and actionable for you (and I), alas, that was not to be the case.

Drupal 5 - Progressive downloads in "private" mode- Just a quick one to let anyone using Drupal know that it *is* possible to serve files using HTTP_RANGE! After a little bit of digging around, Andrea and I found this patch file (attached to this post), which allows Drupal 5 to serve files to range-supporting clients. Why bother with this post? Well, the iPhone doesn't support file-downloading, nor does it support multimedia file-streaming, but it does support progressive download via http!

Trinity College Dublin - TA-DA, Research and Secret Projects- Yesterday (Wednesday, 3rd December) I had the honour of being invited along to Trinity College, Dublin, to give a slightly modified version of the presentation I gave at the recent Drupal Ireland Meetup on TA-DA (our mobile browser test suite) - which I've attached to the end of this post.
