I've done a few tests with a number of mobile sites through the ready.mobi readiness tool. Countless times, there has been the one warning that keeps cropping up, time and again. This would be the "stylesheets dependency" additional test. I've got some beef with the way this is rated, and I would love the ready.mobi devs to provide some clarification on this.

Why is it that the use of the "display" property is so bad? Is there a sound reason behind this? What is wrong with setting the display of a link to be "block", so that it is made to be better click-able by touch screen phones?

And the "float" property. I can understand why this would be in there, as this would get a little bit more complex when trying to deal with older phones. However this, coupled with the table limiting, makes it impossible to have horizontally-aligned content on a page without being penalized in some way.

If I have a news site, for example, and it displays lists of latest news articles, how would I display the news article's image next to the title, without using float or two table cells next to each other?

Am I over-reacting a bit? Am I perhaps reading *too* much into the ready.mobi score?

Some good questions there, I'll make sure they're passed on to our resident ready.mobi lead :)
