I found a CMS that uses JavaScript. The JavaScript has no other functionality other than allowing users to edit their content. When I tested my mobile web pages prior to adding the JavaScript on ready.mobi, they tested perfectly... receiving a 5 - and the tests indicated that the pages would load quickly. Then I added two lines of JavaScript before the closing body tag and the test results changed to a 3. Just adding two lines of JavaScript changed my file size from 3.59k to 38.85k. So here's my question... if the JavaScript isn't adding any functionality to the page and is only there to allow my clients to edit their content via their PCs, would this JavaScript really cause problems for mobile users? I need to find a low-cost, easy content management solution for my clients' mobile sites. I didn't really want to take the time to learn Drupal. I don't want my clients to have to use a commercial CMS... I want to keep their mobile sites low cost and low maintenance. Can someone tell me if the JavaScript will really hurt my mobile site's loadtime, etc.?
