First off, ready.mobi is an excellent tool for aiding development and I have learned a great deal from it, so thanks for providing it.
My site ( http://xml2.mobi ) currently scores 4.95 out of 5.0. A sitemap is present at http://xml2.mobi/sitemap.gz but ready.mobi does not seem to detect it. Is this a bug or the expected result? It would give me a warm feeling if I could get the extra 0.05 points!
Many thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
A year ago you made this post, did you ever resolve this issue?
I have the same problem, perfect score apart from, Google sitemap not found!
I have a sitemap.gz in http://****.mobi/sitemap.gz but resdy.mobi api doesnt find it.
Would have been nice also if mobi.dev responded to your post, and why continue to include the sitemap rating if its buggy. cheer paul

Hi Paul,
Can you let me know your domain and I will check it out. The ready.mobi score is not affected by whether or not the sitemap is present. Only the Best Practices and dotMobi compliance rules affect the score.
If you run the ready.mobi test on 'mtld.mobi', you will see that the sitemap is detected for this domain.

Hey Paul,
Something odd is happening alright... Your sitemap is there, but as you say, ready.mobi doesn't see it.
I'll look into it and keep you posted.

Hi Paul,
Sorry for the delay. On investigating this further, it appears that your site is sending an HTTP 406 Not Acceptable error response when ready.mobi requests the sitemap file.
What does this mean? Well, from the HTTP documentation:
The resource identified by the request is only capable of generating response entities which have content characteristics not acceptable according to the accept headers sent in the request.
So, ready.mobi is trying to emulate a mobile device, which is sending a specific Accept header, and that header says that it won't accept your sitemap file.
If you use the advanced options on the ready.mobi homepage and enter */* for the Accept header then you click into the Google sitemap panel on the results page, you will see that it has actually found it, when sent with an 'accept-everything' header.
I think this highlights a weakness in ready.mobi, rather than your server setup. Ready.mobi should send headers that look like a mobile device when it is accessing most of your site's files, but it should probably shouldn't try to look like a phone when accessing the sitemap file.

The Google sitemap file not found problem still persists. Even though it doesn't affect the score, it would be nice to be able to show clients a full set of green lights meaning an error free design meeting best practices. Any update on getting this fixed?
