Ok I'm totally new to mobile web development so I've been taking a look around the site reading a lot of the posts and articles - it's been very useful.

As far as I can tell my best bet is to develop to XHTML Basic standards and then this should work for a great deal of the mobile devices out there.

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and again it seems that I need use standard web controls not mobile web controls that would render to WAP? Correct any of my mistakes here.

Can I just change the doctype declaration in Visual Studio to be XHTML Basic or do I need to create a whole new item template for page to this specification?

Any pointers in this respect especially any example source code or item templates would be fantastic.

Help appreciated.
