hi

We host oneindia.in and oneindia.mobi pages on Linux/Apache.

Every page of hours has a 'handheld' meta tag (which I think is a standard set by Google)

For e.g. http://news.oneindia.in/2009/05/22/peta-goes-gaga-over-zoozoos.html has the following in the header,

Is there anyway if a handheld visits http://news.oneindia.in/2009/05/22/peta-goes-gaga-over-zoozoos.html the apache server can redirect the user to http://news.oneindia.mobi/2009/05/22/582314.html

regards

BG Mahesh

You could try creating a rewrite rule based on the User-Agent string or the presence of the UAProf headers, but you would also need to somehow tell Apache what is the destination URL. It seems to me, from your example, that there is not a direct link between the two URLs and that you will need to use your application's database in order to know where to redirect the client.

I would recommend that you look into our own DeviceAtlas for device detection, but for the redirection you will have to do your own development.

WRT the meta tag it's not a standard set by Google, but by the W3C, but in any case I do not think it will help you in this case, it's only good for search engines.

Isn't Katie Crackernuts's prince exhausted all the time because he's dancing w/the fairies? I might be misremembering. And diesel shoes Helen, who's hanging out here tonight, said "What about the Red Shoes?"
