Hi everybody,

We have released a free device detection proxy. The proxy can be found
at

http://www.moviladetection.com

This proxy provides many features that are
useful when publishing content for different devices:

- Multiple contents from a single URL
- Utilization of device features
- Embedded device repository
- Easy browser interface
- Fast detection
- High throughput
- URL rewrite
- Possibility to block files, filetypes or folders from detection
- Bot recognition
- etc.

Our detection algorithm uses multiple header information (User-Agent,
Profile, Accept etc.). We use many headers to do the detection and we
also detect proxies like Novarra and read the user agent from the
correct header field. Also, the internal data structure is a multikey
one, not based just on the User-Agent.

We have developed this product for the last three years. So far it has
been commercial, but we decided to do a free version of it.

We hope our product will be useful for someone of you guys.

Best Regards,

Markus Kalliola

Thanks for the tip. I think http://www.handsetdetection.com/ also have a free service available.

Can someone tell me the difference (if any) between all of these handset detection and mobile analytic web services?

Wow that free detect is great! Just what I was looking for. While I am new to mobile web building, the device detection is going to take some time for me to learn and get right. For now your free detect is just what I needed to get things going.
