Hi,

we are developing simple mobile applications to common people in India. We plan to implement 'short code' concept for people to download the application. For example, People send SMS to shortcode specifying which application they need. One we receive the SMS we delivery the web link for download. My doubt here is we want to know the Phone model of the sender. For example, Nokia E63, will have different screen size and for him, we need to deliver application which support that screen size. So we need to know the Phone model before we send the application. I don't want the user to keyin the phone model, since it is difficult for a common man to know the phone model.

I want to know whether my approach is correct? If yes, is it possible for me to get phone model during pull SMS.

Mani.

I do not believe you can find out the type of phone from the SMS message. If you then send them a URL for their phone's web browser to pull the software, there should be enough information in the UA string when they get to your web site to tell you what phone they're using.
