Hi all (I suppose this would be more targeted to @ruadhan and other "officials" ;)

When viewing devices on http://deviceatlas.com/devices/, it's great that we're able to directly contribute towards the updating of device properties. However, one thing I can't understand is that there is no way to add a new User-Agent to a device.

As an example, I have a client with an HTC Wildfire. Only some of the properties are picked up by Device Atlas. However, the only difference between my User-Agent and another Wildfire's is that mine contains "en-za" instead of "en-es" when defining the country of origination.

All I need to be able to do is add this new user-agent. Is there perhaps a way to do this already, and I'm just being stupid in not being able to see it?

Hey Geoff,

I just responded to your email, but I may as well respond here for the crawlers too :)
UA Strings are sensitive pieces of information - it's important that they map to the correct devices at all times. They're much more important than the device data itself.

The addition of UA strings can be done in a couple of ways:
1: You can submit a TA-DA (http://ta-da.mobi) test session, using the troublesome device itself, and wait for the manual verification process to be completed by the team here in DeviceAtlas HQ, or
2: You can email the UA (or list of UAs), along with a suggested device mapping if you have one (and if it's not immediately clear from the UA itself), directly to us at da.tech@mtld.mobi

:)

Hey Daniel.

Thanks for the response. It's nice to know that there is a way to add a user-agent. And it's especially nice to know that considering user-agents are so important, Device Atlas doesn't allow anyone to alter them as required ;)
