I noticed that Opera have built the W3C Geolocation API into their browser. Looks to me like it's only in their desktop browser. Is this correct?

Wouldn't this be much more useful in a mobile browser?

Yes, encouraging to see an implementation in a major browser already... Would definitely be great to see in mobile browsers - let's hope it happens soon!

Apparently Firefox 3.1 beta already has this too...

Although Firefox 3.1 (aka 3.5) implements the standard geolocation api, the latest beta still lacks a useful location provider. On the other hand, using Firefox 3.0 with the (experimental) Geode addon (http://labs.mozilla.com/geode_welcome/) and connecting to the internet via wi-fi (which typically exposes location), I can see that geolocation already really does work (tested with the geolocation example site http://kafo.tk to find my local coffee shops). Seems wi-fi laptops are going to be ahead of mobiles on this one.
