I know about some of the options that exist for JME applications on mobile devices, but what about for 'regular' webpages that are viewed through a devices browser? Are there any options / techniques for getting locations?

Thanks.

Hello,

the only browser based solution is the Google Gears Geolocation API which works on some Windows Mobile devices.

Just checking. I wonder if any of the browser's will try to incorporate this in some way.

From a conversation I had with the head of NetFront Access, they have no plans to include cell-ID or GPS location access from the browser.

Apple iPhone's Safari browser also does not seem to have an plans to pass Location to WebApps.

We're just getting ready to release a free mobile app that allows you to send Who, What and Where data via the standard mobile browser in Blackberry and Windows Mobile. No mobile programming is required and all data is control by user controlled opt-in privacy controls.

It also has an open API so you can extend it to other apps with different data types.
