Hi Ruadhan and other active users,

Is there any open source transcoding/transforming/content adaptation project available? If not, what is your suggestion/comments/feedback if someone providing one?

I am sorry this is a sensitive topic. While, I believe the open source solution is better than holding the transcoding service in one or two companies, and the source is not open.

Thanks for your time,

Rickey

Thanks for the feedback, eklund and jmcf!

While, I would like to know if there is any SIMPLE Transcoding solution? (I know this another question, but I am really interesting in.)

I read the above three projects, they are provided by Java, all projects are big, and each has its template solution, it takes time to understand the procedure. But you know, most of the web sites are small, say 20 pages, 10 use cases. So, if I am not from a dedicated transcoding company, the effect of mobilzing a desktop web site, using above solutions, is higher than manual rebuilding the web site (for both desktop and mobile) from scratch.

So, is there any simple solution, with additional, say 1000 lines of template, 2000 lines of script, that can mobilze a 20 pages desktop web site? I believe most webmasters are looking for this type of solution. Furthermore, I expect it is implemented by PHP, since most web page is implemented by PHP, so I can reuse some of the current code and coding skill.

Any comments are welcome.

I don't think mobify.me is open source, or can be integrated in the way that rickey29 has requested.

You may also checkout Alembik. It is an open-source Java-based transcoding server.

You can access it through various APIs (SOAP, HTTP, EJB) or make use of its JSP tag library.

Thanks everyone who gives the suggestion. While, they are not what I am looking for -- a simple PHP Transcoding solution. So, I develop a new one: http://mobileonlinestyle.com/mobile-online-proxy . I will update the code to comply with Guidelines for Web Content Transformation Proxies 1.0 .
