Hi,

I'm not sure how to report this to the .mobi people.

The site m.rte.ie passed .mobi tests, yet the pages do not display on Sony Ericsson k750i, k770i and k850i.

This is a concern as these are popular devices.

The pages look correct on the emulator.

You cannot link to stories in an index list is the main effect.

how can we go about resolving this issue, we thought passing .mobi would ensure the site worked on all devices.

regards, RTÉ

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to report this to us. There are two issues that I should clarify on the dotMobi side of things:
(1) If your site passes the ready.mobi test, it is only an indication that it will probably display well on mobile devices, and
(2) Don't trust emulators! They can be useful to determine what a site will look like on a device, but you have to test on real devices, as emulators won't mimic all the idionsyncracies of all devices. In the general case, if you're page uses markup which doesn't invoke any of the pecularities of a device, then the emulator will probably give a close approximation to what the device will show. The problem is that emulators often fail to reproduce exactly the rendering engines of the device.

In your case, it there must be something in particular in the page that the SE models you mention don't like. I'll see if I can dig one of those devices out of the phone bag and reproduce your problem...

I have an SE V640i and the m.rte.ie homepage works fine for me. Where do you see the error? I might take a look at the markup and try to spot anything strange.
