I just installed this package on a couple of domains for testing purposes and am so far very pleased.

Is there any way to force the mobile version to show a different piece of content than the desktop version?

Here's an example. Take a site using Wordpress as a CMS. The homepage is a "page," not posts. That page looks great on desktop machines, but for mobile use it's got too much information, too many pictures, etc. It's simply not targeted enough for the needs of the mobile user even if it displays okay in the mobile theme.

I would like to be able to write a short, targeted version of the homepage and have that show to mobile users.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

That's a good idea. One of our other users has proposed running the mobile site at the top-level of their mobile domain, and the desktop site as a subdirectory of their desktop domain.

Suffice to say... there are many different usage patterns out there!

I'll log it as a feature request:

Thanks!

Is it possible to edit the mobile theme to use the excerpt field and put only the pared down content in there? I'm wondering about this, too, but haven't yet worked on it (just started)...

I just installed and was pleasantly surprised by the good rating my site got... though there are issues that brought me to this forum that I will be asking about... so I haven't had time yet to do any tweaking of the mobile theme(s) in the plugin.

I use a completely custom layout (not theme based) with WordPress logic inserted, blah, blah (like a CMS). I don't typically surf the web online, either, and I am NOT seeing any site in the "visualisation" box for mobiForge's testing page.

Looking forward to learning lots here.

Casey
