Is there some article or detailed instructions on how to set up a mobile.example.com sub-domain correctly and use it to view the mobile version of your site? Or is that not a possibility?
I'd like to see the mobile version from the computer that I develop on... I'm not worried about screen size or anything, just tweaking the theme.
And, is there some trigger link I can use on the desktop version to MANUALLY switch to the mobile theme? What's recommended, if anything?
Help GREATLY appreciated.

duh. I just realized I could preview a mobile theme to see how it displays content... and I did figure out how to add the switcher link to the desktop theme to trigger display in the mobile theme from the public site. Now to wade through the code on what to display, since this isn't really a blog site.
but I still would like to know the exact details of setting up a mirror or sub-domain that, if accessed, would always display via the selected mobile theme.... is that possible?

Bummer... I see what others are saying now... if you DO switch, you are put into mobile admin mode and the only way out of it is to disable the switch altogether...
WHY? I duplicated a mobile theme... figured out that you have to deactivate the plugin and reactivate to get the themes moved from the plugin's themes to the content's themes...
Had my main active theme disappear from the remote server oddly... and all the mobile stuff disappeared, too, when just copying the modified custom mobile theme from the remote plugins to wp-content/themes... it was weird.
And yes, the plugin stated that it was still active when that happened...
I had to reload the files for my main desktop theme and then deactivate and reactivate the plugin.
