Many thanks

I think that companies and services like Google Analytics or StatCounter will have to update their tracking systems. Normally these systems are based on javascript that is not so reliable on mobile browsers because it is rarely supported.

I think that you should create statistics with a proprietary system or analyze your weblogs.

Some place a tiny image to track browsing, but I don't like this practice very much as it adds some un-needed content and we know that on the mobile we should try to optimize network usage and memory consumption.

hi Andrea,
many thanks for answering. I don't have a great log analisis or log export feature in my hosting site. So I was thinking of using a .mobi stat counter site if one was available.

Regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
Yes, mobileSTATS (mobilestats.co.uk / mobilestats.mobi) is a stat counter designed for .mobi websites, i've been using it since June and think its great.
In short, it tracks PC and mobile phone users accessing your site (without using javascript).
You can view your stats on PC and even your mobile phone while down the pub or on the train.
If you ask them, they also do a javascript version for conventional domains that shows stats on your mobile.

Regards,
Andy

Amethon has developed a mobile specific analytics solution called (drum roll), Mobile Analytics!

As well as reporting a number of mobile specific metrics such as handset brand and model, handset screen resolution and mobile operators, it also has mobile specific logic to distinguish mobile activity from PC browsing and optimise the unique visitor identification process which is a signficant challenge in the mobile domain.

You can find out more here.
