Hi all
I manage a small site and we are currently both mobile and web enabled, we have device detection capabilities and currently switch the CSS on the site depending on what browser you are using, mobile or web.
We are now going to build out a full scale website which will probably have slightly different content (but still very similar), and we'd like to keep the same url for both mobile and web traffic.
So in an ideal world:
from pc browser: see mydomain with web content.
from mobile : see mydomain with MOBILE content.
So my question is, does google recognise that you are serving a mobile site, and then send googlebot-mobile only to crawl the mobile- only content? And then when it's web bot crawls your page and you serve them the web version, will google then put them both together and consider your site as having duplicate content?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

No Tim
the bot will just see the site as one site. The css is a good idea but all it does is display a different set of code for browser user is using.
Its a good idea to get a .mobi domain and use the instantmobilizer tool free with most .mobi registers.
