I would like to detect the roaming status of a smartphone on the server side. One approach (and the only one?) would be to detect the current location by GeoIP. However this approach wouldn't work if the carrier uses Mobile IP. My question now is: How often is Mobile IP used? Is its usage going to increase in the future?
