New release of ready.mobi

I'm pleased to announce we've released a new version of the ready.mobi report. We're very close to signing off on version 1.0. Aside from bug-fixes and general stablility improvement, some of the new features include:
- Custom headers
Now you can customize the headers sent by the report when fetching a page. We've added an "advanced options" section to the launch page, where you may enter your own User-Agent and Accept headers, and these will be sent by the report when it requests your page. Alternatively you can choose from a set of common preset devices, and ready.mobi will mimic these devices by using the same HTTP headers that they use when requesting your page.

- Need more help?
We've built up more support around the ready.mobi results. When there are problems with your page, we now include a link to an article on mobiForge that will give you further information on fixing the most common problems. We aim to have an article for each test, so we are adding new ones every day. When you see the "help me fix it" link, you will know that there is more help for you at http://mobiforge.com
- Mobile version
We've re-skinned the mobile version of the report so that it has the same look and feel as the mobiForge site. At the moment you can get a summary of the test results while you are on the move. We will add a little more detail to this in the future.
We've also added device detection to automatically deliver the correct version for your device. Ready.mobi now scores itself 5/5. See for yourself. - Reduced page-weight
Not a new feature, but noteworthy nonetheless, is the reduced page-weight of the results page of this release. This has benefits for user of Internet Explorer in particular. The page is now a lot faster to render and scroll through.
Feedback and suggestions very much appreciated at tech@mtld.mobi

I think it's good that you guys are considering page weight as a goal. However I think this release has increased page weight rather than reduced it. Whereas the major release version had only HTML (if I remember correctly) the current page loads 3 flash applications and 2 Java applets. Not exactly what I would consider skinny! Even if these are being cached by the browser there is the start-up time to consider. Granted the Flash applications load quickly enough but the Java is really slow and clunky first time around.
Any chance you could include an option on the first page that would let users turn off the flash/Java? Ideally an option that was sticky (via cookies maybe).
Just my 2 cents - on the whole I still think this is a great resource.

Paschal, I take your point about the Flash and applets, but I should clarify. I've reduced the page weight since the last minor release. I've also tweaked the Flash so that its not so CPU intensive.
I totally agree that the applets can be clunky. We may in the future, once we have ironed out some technical difficulties, provide images of the emulator, rather than full blown emulator. In the meantime, I agree the option to turn off the Flash/Java would be very useful. I will try to get it into next minor release.
Thanks for the feedback

The validator is still not seeing my Google sitemap. I have specified both formats. Any ideas why?
