Today we are announcing DeviceAtlas which is the result of many months of work here at dotMobi. It all officially started in June 2007, but the plan within the company had already started quite a few months earlier.
It has been a real team work, Jo Rabin and I worked actively in the W3C DDWG to make sure there would be a Core Vocabulary and a Simple API.
The whole marketing and business development team helped us to get together an impressive list of partners that are joining us from day 1.
The “tech team” has been taken by storm into this amazing project and all had to give their contribution. Sometimes it’s been very hard, some deadlines that we fixed have been almost impossible to meet, but everyone has done a great job and today we are here to announce to the world that DeviceAtlas is available to all developers that want to create a great mobile experience for their users.
It’s our version 1.0, but it’s obvious that it is the result of the experiences collected in many years in the mobile space. We have some great features exposed that you will see immediately and we have some others that are not visible, but that give great potential to this new service.
We created a forum to discuss DeviceAtlas, the features, what you like, what you would like to see in the next versions and how you would like to extend it. We think that mobiForge is the perfect place to discuss the future of DeviceAtlas and we want to hear your opinions. If you are a developer your fingers are probably already itching and…. Well, I’m surprised you’re still reading here and you haven’t clicked on the link at the beginning of the article. Anyway, we wanted to make sure that our developers get the best in their hands and so we are providing a developer licence that is FREE to all our registered users and that offers all the functionalities of the product. You can browse the site as much as you want, you can download the API and play with it. So get started with DeviceAtlas now!
