23. Number of Mobile Subscribers Worldwide

As of Q1 2015, the total number of worldwide mobile subscriptions is over 7 billion. This is a dramatic increase from this statistic in the year 2000, in which the number of mobile subscribers was only 738 million.

24. Mobile Data Usage

It is predicted that by the end of 2015, 4G LTE data use will rise by 59% and mobile video will account for 60% of data traffic. As a result, 4G data usage is expected to hit 5.5 GB a month by 2018, meaning mobile network operators will have to compete even more intensely for the most efficient and competitively priced service.

25. Mobile Network Speeds

It is forecast that mobile network speeds will increase by more than 200% by 2019. The current average network speed of 1.7 Mbps in 2015 will increase to almost 4 Mbps.

Ireland is a world leader in data speeds, with an average download speed of 15.16Mbps. It is second only to Singapore, with an average download speed of 15.85Mbps.
