Vote for your favorite mobile app

Last week I posted that it was nomination time for the Open Web Awards by Mashable. Nominations have closed, and it’s time to get voting.

I’ve always wanted to say this, maybe wearing a tuxedo and under bright lights, but here goes:

And the nominations in the category for best mobile application are…

  • Evernote – Excellent app for taking voice, photo, or text notes and uploading and synching between mobile and desktop clients. There is a very well presented iphone client, which allows you to geotag your notes, and also a windows mobile version. A very cool feature is the integrated image processing technology which allows you to search for text within images and photos.

My only beef is that there is no S60 client.

  • fring – a cool VoIP, and IM client available on quite a few different platforms. Integrates well with a whole heap of chat and VoIP clients such as Skype, Gmail and Twitter and will pull contacts from these clients
I’ve tried this on S60 and iPhone and it totally rocks!

  • jajah – another VoIP service. This one is web based, and can be used from desktop, or web enabled mobile handset
  • mobyko – data backup tool for mobile. Supports a wide range of platforms
  • MocoSpace
    Social networking site

  • PackageTrackr Mobile – track your packages
  • Qik – Pretty nifty video sharing application. It enables simple upload of video shot from a mobile device directly to your Qik page.
  • trulia – Mobile application for real estate searches
  • viigo – RSS, Sports, Travel, Markets do everything aggregator application. Seems to have something for each of ‘bored now’, ‘urgent now’ & ‘repetitive now’ users. Supported platforms include Blackberry and Windows Mobile, but no S60 🙁
  • vlingo – a voice enabling application for blackberry devices. ‘No tapping no thumbs, just good old speaking’. Facilitates voice-enabled SMS and search.

I’m bit disappointed not to see some of my personal favorite mobile apps, and the first ones that I would generally install on any new device. These include Opera Mini and Google Maps. Them’s the breaks I suppose…

So that’s it. Get voting. Use the voting widget above.
