That’s right, Ireland’s first and only dedicated apps awards, The Appys, are coming to town. These awards were set up to give the best apps developers the recognition they deserve. The competition is open to all, so if you’ve developed an app on any platform, or have been involved in the development of an app, then you can enter. The categories are:
- Best augmented reality/location services app
- Best business solutions app
- Best “branded” app
- Best gaming app
- Best media app
- Best social networking app
- Best medical/healthcare app
- Best retail app
- Best tourism app
There are also a number of platform categories that will award the best app on a particular platform across all the above categories:
- Best Android app
- Best Ovi app
- Best Bada app
- Best Apple app
I recently caught up with the mastermind behind The Appys, Stephen Conmy, and he had this to say about the awards:
“The Appys is a rewards programme to recognise excellence in app development (native, web and social apps). We see the app sector as a fully-fledged media sector in its own right. There are TV awards, radio awards, website awards, but no Irish app awards – hence The Appys was born”
