I’m pleased to announce we’ve released a new version of the ready.mobi report. We’re very close to signing off on version 1.0. Aside from bug-fixes and general stablility improvement, some of the new features include:
- Custom headers
Now you can customize the headers sent by the report when fetching a page. We’ve added an “advanced options” section to the launch page, where you may enter your own User-Agent and Accept headers, and these will be sent by the report when it requests your page. Alternatively you can choose from a set of common preset devices, and ready.mobi will mimic these devices by using the same HTTP headers that they use when requesting your page.
- Need more help?
We’ve built up more support around the ready.mobi results. When there are problems with your page, we now include a link to an article on mobiForge that will give you further information on fixing the most common problems. We aim to have an article for each test, so we are adding new ones every day. When you see the "help me fix it" link, you will know that there is more help for you at http://mobiforge.com
- Mobile version
We’ve re-skinned the mobile version of the report so that it has the same look and feel as the mobiForge site. At the moment you can get a summary of the test results while you are on the move. We will add a little more detail to this in the future. We’ve also added device detection to automatically deliver the correct version for your device. Ready.mobi now scores itself 5/5. See for yourself.
- Reduced page-weight
Not a new feature, but noteworthy nonetheless, is the reduced page-weight of the results page of this release. This has benefits for user of Internet Explorer in particular. The page is now a lot faster to render and scroll through.
Feedback and suggestions very much appreciated at tech@mtld.mobi
